Sandhaven is located a short way from the beach on Ullwell Road.
From the Sandbanks Ferry follow signs to Swanage which take you onto Ullwell Rd. Follow this road till you get your first glance of the sea at Swanage. Sandhaven is on your right.
If you are traveling by road from Corfe Castle follow the main road all the way to the readfront. Turn left at the seafront and follow the road along the beach. When the road curves up the hill Sandhaven will appear on your left after 150 meters.
Sandhaven is ideally situated in the coastal town of Swanage and within a short walk of it's beautiful sandy beach. Swanage also has much more to offer than sand and swimming waters. Swanage is packed with family friendly activities and attractions.
The Swanage steam railway is a popular favourite and carriers passangers through idillic countryside to the historic village of Corfe Castle.
For those wishing to experience the sea and maritime life in Swanage there are frequent fishing trips organised from the pier where those of all ages and fishing ecperience can fish and admire the fanatastic coastal sceanary.
Taking a more sedate pace one can explore the seafront promonade and stop in at one of the tea shops on the water front.
Durlstone Country Park - One mile from Swanage (and accessable by the coastal path) is the country park of Durlstone which boasts fanstatic views of the sea and rolling hills ideal for picnicks and peacful walks amoungst a wealth of wildlife.
Studland Beach - The long sandy beach of Studland is a couple of miles north of Swanage and accessable by a pleasent walk from Sandhaven. Studland beach is popular as a bathing beach but is also backed by a wetland area which attracts birds and bird watchers throughout the year. A walk in th sand dunes behind studland beach will reveal the dense population of wildlife. The National Trust administer the land and provide a visitors centre and position helpful information boards around the area.
Corfe Castle - The historic village of Corfe Castle is dominated by the ruins of Corfe Castle and easily reached from Swanage by car, bus or steam train. The village can be enjoyed without going into the castle as there are many tea rooms, curiosity shops and a historic church.
Kimmeridge - Is another jewel on the coast of Purbeck. The beach is comfortable for bathing and the water is shallow and warm in summer. The real attraction however is the huge collections of fossils visable in the rocks everywhere. A large shelf going out to sea gives you a chance to walk over millions of years of historical record.
Worth Matravers - This small and quiet village has all the rural features, including historic church, tea shop and a village pond. The real enjoyment for many lies in the renound public house which boasts a range of traditional ales and ciders and a local museum.
Blue Pool - This out of the way oasis was named after the large lake which dominates the park. With a number of beautiful and gentle walks around the lake, which used to be a gravel quarry, and a teashop and gift shop this makes a lovely afternoon out any day of the summer.
